The owners and the management team consider maintaining the German production sites to be especially important. This is also to be ensured by sufficient internationalization. The goal of maintaining HEINZ as a family-run company is connected with this. This goal is to be achieved with careful growth, environmentally compatible business operations and sufficient investments in training and continuing education.
HEINZ has paid special attention to environmental concerns for quite some time, including in glass matting. For example, a lot of money was already invested in ventilation and water filtration as well as a water neutralization system in 1982.
Based on the results of an environmental impact assessment conducted from 2003 until 2008, which we contracted, our sewage treatment was adapted to state-of-the-art technology.
With this measure, we have been able to reduce the sewage parameters already before the sewage reaches the municipal sewage treatment facility to values that correspond to those customary from households.
We have been conducting another sewage treatment trial using a sewage treatment facility that uses plants. The neutralized sewage is routed to a plant bed filled with reeds. The soil biology decomposes the solids in the sewage.
HEINZ achieved a technological breakthrough with the development of "HEINZ Recycling Glass". The big advantage compared to similar glass types is above all in the glass melt, which can be produced 100% free of CO2. With this and other outstanding qualities, HEINZ Recycling Glass is fulfilling the globally increasing need for ecologically oriented production and products. In addition, Heinz Glas GmbH has been a member of the Bavarian Environment Package with its site Kleintettau and production plant in Spechtsbrunn since 16 March 2009. Every (Bavarian) company can participate in this, which has set special goals in the area of environmental protection.
